Developed and published by Psyonix LLC in 2015, Rocket League is still one of the most popular PC games in 2023. Rocket League is an arcade-style game that combines soccer and car racing and offers casual and competitive online matches. If you’re looking for the best laptop for Rocket Game, then you’re on the right page!

In this article, we will list some of the laptops you should consider for playing Rocket League, and also tell you what components to look at in order to get the best gaming performance.

The good news is that Rocket League is not a heavy game, and if you simply want to casually play the game, most budget gaming laptops will meet your expectations. In fact, Rocket League will even run on a laptop with integrated graphics!

Here are the official system requirements for playing Rocket League:

Minimum Recommended
Windows 7 (64 bit) or Newer (64 bit) Windows OS Windows 7 (64 bit) or Newer (64 bit) Windows OS
2.5 GHz Dual core Processor 3.0+ GHz Quad core Processor
4GB RAM 8GB RAM
20GB Storage 20GB Storage
DirectX 11 DirectX 11
NVIDIA GeForce 760, AMD Radeon R7 270X, or better NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060, AMD Radeon RX 470, or better

But while the minimum system requirements for Rocket League say that you only need 4GB of RAM and a Geforce 760, this won’t be enough to be able to run the game smoothly. And since Rocket League is a competitive game, having a system that can ensure good FPS is a must.

  • Intel i5 processor or Equivalent
  • 8GB of RAM
  • Nvidia Geforce GTX 1650 graphics card.
  • Full HD display

The processor, RAM, and GPU are the main things to consider when looking for a laptop for playing Rocket League, and for gaming in general. In most cases, an Nvidia GTX 1650 will give 100-140 FPS in Rocket league, which is more than enough, considering the game is limited to 250FPS.

What else should you consider?

On the other hand, there are other things to consider when it comes to getting a new gaming laptop. Personally, when it comes to gaming laptops, the display, cooling, and storage are also important. Of course, the display size and resolution comes down to everyone’s needs and budget, but here are some tips on what to consider in order to get a good laptop display:

Resolution:  Most laptops nowadays come with Full HD displays, but cheap laptops are still shipped with HD screens, which I personally think should be avoided like the plague.  In general, Rocket League is limited to Full HD on PC, so if you only play Rocket League, you don’t really need a laptop with higher resolution.

Refresh Rate: A high refresh rate is not necessary for casual play but can improve the overall gaming experience. It reduces latency and stuttering, but keep in mind that displays with high refresh rates often come with TN panels that have limited viewing angles.

Response Time: Response time is not as crucial as it used to be, as most modern IPS panels have reasonable response times.

Adaptive Sync: Adaptive sync can improve gaming experience in Rocket League by reducing latency and increasing frame rate, but it’s not a requirement.

Panel and Image Quality: Panel type doesn’t make a big difference in Rocket League, but if you also use your laptop for visual work or just want a good display, consider these options:

  • TN panels have fast response time but average image quality, especially in regards to viewing angles and color accuracy
  • IPS/PLS panels are better in most ways, but can be more expensive and not as responsive as TN panels
  • OLED/AMOLED is the best panel technology, with exceptional color accuracy and HDR, but is typically found in high-end models.

Cooling and heat dissipation:  When it comes to gaming laptops, cooling is a very important factor as it helps to prevent overheating and maintain optimal performance during prolonged gaming sessions. When a laptop runs for an extended period, the components generate heat which can cause the laptop to slow down and start lagging, which is known as thermal throttling. An effective cooling system helps to regulate the temperature and keep the components running smoothly, thereby improving the gaming experience. Unfortunately, there is nowhere to know whether a laptop has a good cooling system or not, before testing it. But in general, bigger and bulkier laptops tend to have more fans and more effective heat sinks.
